Tuesday, December 29, 2026 • Saint Thomas Becket, Bishop and Martyr
Opening
O God, come to my assistance.
Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Hymn
Sing Alleluia Forth
Sing alleluia forth in duteous praise,
O citizens of heaven, who know the festal days;
and by your singing learn how God may be adored.
O citizens of heaven, who know the festal days;
and by your singing learn how God may be adored.
Psalmody
Psalm 135Give Thanks to the Lord, For He Is Good (Part II)
Ant. Today Christ is born for us; glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.
Who divided the Red Sea into portions; for his mercy is forever.
And led Israel through the midst of it; for his mercy is forever.
And shook off Pharaoh and his virtue in the Red Sea; for his mercy is forever.
Who led his people through the desert; for his mercy is forever.
Who struck great kings; for his mercy is forever.
And slew powerful kings; for his mercy is forever.
Sihon, king of the Amorites; for his mercy is forever.
And Og, king of Bashan; for his mercy is forever.
And gave their land as an inheritance; for his mercy is forever.
An inheritance for his servant Israel; for his mercy is forever.
For in our humiliation he was mindful of us; for his mercy is forever.
And he redeemed us from our enemies; for his mercy is forever.
Who gives food to all flesh; for his mercy is forever.
Confess to the God of heaven; for his mercy is forever.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Ant. Today Christ is born for us; glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.
Psalm 136By the Waters of Babylon (Part I)
Ant. Today Christ is born for us; glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.
Upon the rivers of Babylon, there we sat and wept as we remembered Zion.
On the willows in their midst, we hung up our instruments.
For there those who had led us captive asked us the words of song.
And those who had carried us away said: "Sing to us a hymn from the songs of Zion."
How will we sing the song of the Lord in a foreign land?
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Ant. Today Christ is born for us; glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.
