Opening

O God, come to my assistance.

Lord, make haste to help me.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Hymn
Lord, Who Throughout These Forty Days
Lord, who throughout these forty days
for us did fast and pray,
teach us with you to mourn our sins
and close by you to stay.
Psalmody
Psalm 125The Lord Restored Our Fortunes
Ant. Create a clean heart in me, O God.
When the Lord turned back the captivity of Zion, we became like those consoled.
Then our mouth was filled with gladness, and our tongue with joy.
Then they will say among the Gentiles: "The Lord has done great things for them."
The Lord has done great things for us; we have become joyful.
Turn back our captivity, O Lord, like a torrent in the south.
Those who sow in tears will reap in joy.
Going, they went and wept, casting their seeds.
But coming, they will come with rejoicing, carrying their sheaves.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Ant. Create a clean heart in me, O God.
Psalm 126Unless the Lord Builds the House
Ant. Create a clean heart in me, O God.
Unless the Lord has built the house, in vain have its builders labored.
Unless the Lord has kept the city, he watches in vain who guards it.
It is in vain for you to rise before the light; rise up after you have been sitting, you who eat the bread of sorrow.
When he will grant sleep to his beloved, behold, the inheritance of the Lord are children.
The reward is the fruit of the womb.
Like arrows in the hand of a powerful one, so are the children of those who have been cast out.
Blessed is the man who has filled his desire from them; he will not be ashamed when he speaks to his enemies at the gate.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Ant. Create a clean heart in me, O God.
Short Reading
Isaiah 58:7
Share your bread with the hungry, shelter the oppressed and the homeless; clothe the naked when you see them, and do not turn your back on your own.
Responsory
V. We adore your cross, O Lord.
R. We praise your holy resurrection.
Concluding Prayer
God of mercy, we pause in the midst of our Lenten journey. Renew our resolve, deepen our prayer, and fill us with the charity that this season calls us to; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Dismissal

Let us praise the Lord.
And give him thanks.
